Cookie Policy
Last reviewed: May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies poundlogic.co.uk uses, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to the website owner. Cookies are stored in your browser and sent back to the website each time you return.
We also use local storage — a similar browser-based storage mechanism — to remember your cookie consent preferences. Local storage works like a cookie but is not sent to our server with every request.
2. Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are required for a website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as logging in or filling in a form.
We do not use any strictly necessary cookies. PoundLogic has no login system, shopping cart, or server-side session management. Your consent preferences are stored in local storage rather than a cookie.
Analytics and tracking cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the site. They are only set after you have given explicit consent via our cookie banner. Without your consent, none of these cookies will be placed.
3. Cookie details
Google Analytics 4
These cookies are set by Google to measure traffic and usage patterns on the site.
| Cookie name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes individual users by assigning a randomly generated identifier. | 2 years | |
| _ga_XXXXXXX | Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4 (the suffix is specific to the GA4 measurement ID). | 2 years | |
| _gid | Distinguishes users and throttles the request rate. Stores and updates a unique value for each page visited. | 24 hours |
Microsoft Clarity
These cookies are set by Microsoft to support session recording, heatmaps and user behaviour analysis.
| Cookie name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _clck | Microsoft | Persists the Clarity user ID and preferences, unique to that site, on the browser. This ensures that behaviour in subsequent visits to the same site will be attributed to the same user ID. | 1 year |
| _clsk | Microsoft | Connects multiple page views by a user into a single Clarity session recording. | 1 day |
| MUID | Microsoft | Identifies unique web browsers visiting Microsoft sites. Used for advertising, site analytics and other operational purposes. | 13 months |
| MR | Microsoft | Indicates whether to refresh the MUID cookie. | 7 days |
| CLID | Microsoft | Identifies the first time Clarity saw this user at this site. Used to calculate new vs. returning visitor metrics. | 1 year |
| ANONCHK | Microsoft | Checks whether cookies are enabled in the browser and that the Clarity tracking script can operate correctly. | Session |
Google Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager (GTM) is the mechanism we use to load the analytics and tracking scripts described above. GTM itself does not set any cookies. It is simply a delivery layer that fires other tags — and only fires analytics tags after you have given consent.
4. How we obtain consent
On your first visit to PoundLogic, a cookie consent banner is displayed at the bottom of the page. The banner gives you clear options to accept or decline analytics and tracking cookies. No analytics cookies are set until you actively choose to accept them.
Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key pl_cookie_consent so that we do not show you the banner again on subsequent visits. This local storage entry does not itself constitute a cookie and does not contain personal data.
5. How to change your mind
You can withdraw or change your consent at any time using one of the following methods:
- Cookie banner — click Manage cookies to reopen the consent banner and change your preferences.
- Browser settings — you can delete cookies at any time through your browser's settings. In most browsers, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies. Deleting cookies will also remove the local storage consent record, so the banner will reappear on your next visit.
- Opt-out tools — Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.
6. Third-party cookie policies
The third-party services we use have their own privacy and cookie policies that describe how they process data collected through their cookies:
- Google Analytics — Google publishes its privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy. Google has its own privacy policy describing how it handles data collected through Google Analytics.
- Microsoft Clarity — Microsoft publishes its privacy practices at privacy.microsoft.com. Microsoft has its own privacy policy describing how it handles Clarity session data.
We recommend reviewing these policies if you wish to understand in detail how your data is handled by these third parties.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last reviewed" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. If the cookies we use change significantly, we will re-display the consent banner so you can update your preferences.
